A Witch Walk to Lighten up


With the Equinox fast approaching, balancing our energy becomes fundamental to our health on all levels. The magical tides are strong at this time and will throw us off course if we don't guard our energy.

Witch Walking is a great way to work magic on the move. With focused intention, you can tune into your manifesting power to create what you want.

This is a powerful releasing practice you can do by yourself or with a friend.

Use it for your Witch Walk and enjoy.

You will need:

  • A small backpack you can carry on your shoulders.

  • A pack of four to six small bottles of water.

  • A permanent marker pen.

What to do:

  • Spend some time contemplating what is holding you back in these areas of your life: 
    Bad habits
    Loss or trauma from the past
    Procrastination in the present
    Fear and anxiety about the future
    Unforgiveness
    Relationships

  • Write down your burdens under these headings on each bottle.

  • For example:
    Bad habits – what pattern of thinking or behaviour is not doing you any good? 
    Loss – what past trauma are you suppressing or holding onto?
    Procrastination – what are you putting off?
    Fears – what are you worrying about that hasn't happened? 
    Unforgiveness – what are you feeling guilty about or blaming yourself or someone else for?
    Relationships – who have you outgrown?

  • Choose a time and a place to go for a walk. A rural setting is ideal or a park if you live in an urban area.

  • Fill your backpack with the bottles of water and put it on.

  • Begin your walk by setting your intention to let go of all that is weighing you down and holding you back from your abundance.

  • Walk for as long as you can while contemplating all the things in your life that you are holding onto.

  • Stop when you feel tired and take out one of the bottles of water. Thinking about what you are releasing, pour out the water somewhere safe and appropriate – into the ground or down a drain. Say to yourself or chant out loud, 'Castaway and be gone, I give it away to the earth and she makes me strong'

  • Put the empty bottle in a bin or in your backpack.

  • Continue walking, stopping to repeat the process while chanting, until every bottle has been emptied.

  • Carry on walking with your lighter backpack and notice how you feel.

  • Finish your walk by lighting a ritual candle upon your return home to thank Mother Earth for holding and healing you.

The magic is done.

Every element has been involved in this practice. You have chanted with Air, released with Water, walked with Earth, and ritualised with Fire, with Spirit binding every element to empower your intentions.

Physically releasing the weight of mental and emotional burdens can have a profound effect on you as you experience the power of lightening up on every level. Discuss your experience and share it with your companions. Record it in your magical journal and repeat it whenever you feel the need.

Whether you Witch Walk alone or with others when you dig down and let go of what holds you back, you're working deep magic.
